Why Learn Music? ~ For Joy!
Music gives people a way to express themselves, to unleash their creativity, to be inspired and uplifted, to relax, and to relieve stress and tension. Just think about listening to a beautiful piece of classical music, singing along to a favourite song with friends, or dancing to a great song on the radio – music can lift your heart!
Â
Music plays such an important role in our lives. It is present in many aspects of our lives: theatre, television, movies, holidays, and celebrations. At home, music can become part of our family cultures – a natural part of our everyday experiences.
From birth, parents instinctively use music to calm and soothe their children, to express their love and joy, and to connect and engage with their children.
Â
Children benefit immensely from learning music – not only from the joy music can bring to themselves and others, but also from the way learning music can boost wellbeing, academic attainment and personal development.
Â
Music helps the body and the mind to work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them to learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression.  Put simply – music brings us joy!Â
Of course there also has long been a correlation between learning music and academic success, but there are other benefits too!Â
Teach music and singing at school in such a way that it is not a torture but a joy for the pupil; instill a thirst for finer music in them, a thirst that will last for a lifetime.
Music is sunshine. Like sunshine, music is a powerful force that can instantly and almost chemically change your entire mood. Music gives us new energy and a stronger sense of purpose.
